1977 LABONE OLD STUDENTS ASSOCIATION
CONSTITUTION AND GENERAL RULES
(LOSA 77)
1. NAME OF THE ASSOCIATION
The name of the Association is 1977 LABONE OLD STUDENTS ASSOCIATION hereinafter referred to as “LOSA 77” or “THE ASSOCIATION”.
2. HEADQUARTERS & BRANCHES
The Association shall have its Headquaters in Accra and such other BRANCHES both inside and outside the country as shall be approved and recognized by a Quorum of members at a GENERAL MEETING.
3. OBJECTS OF THE ASSOCIATION
The Association shall pursue the under mentioned broad objectives:
To bring together under one umbrella, products of “THE SCHOOL” who completed Form Five in June 1977 for the purposes of strengthening the bonds of comradeship and companionship that was nurtured within the sublime confines of the LABONE SCHOOL.
In line with this broad objective, the Association shall seek through all its activities to meet the social, economic and welfare needs of members and participate effectively in all activities organized by the NATIONAL & REGIONAL LOSA.
4. MEMBERSHIP
i) Full Membership of the Association is open to all who completed Form Five at the School in June, 1977.
ii) Honourary Membership shall be conferred on any individual or class of people as approved by members at a General Meeting convened for that purpose.
5. OFFICERS OF THE ASSOCIATION
i) The officers of the Association shall be a President, a Vice President, a Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Organizing Secretary, Assistant Organizing secretary, Financial Secretary, Treasurer, Asst. Treasurer, US Rep, UK Rep, Canada Rep, EU Rep(-UK), Africa Rep(-Ghana). who shall collectively function as the Executive and any additional officers as from time to time approved by members.
ii) Officers when appointed shall hold office for a period of 2 calendar years. iii) An Officer shall hold the same office for a maximum of 2 terms(ie. 4 years). iv) An Officer shall be dismissed for gross misconduct – embezzlement, abuse of office, tardiness, etc. Upon investigation & recommendation of a disciplinary committee appointed by the Executive.
6. DUTIES & FUNCTIONS OF THE EXECUTIVE
The Executive shall during its tenure perform the following functions:
i) See to the proper organization of all meetings including general bi-monthly meetings, extra ordinary meetings and End of Year gatherings.
ii) At the beginning of each year present members at a general meeting with its yearly programme of activities for approval.
iii) Present members at a general meeting with a) A statement of account. b) An overview of the state of the Association at the end of November of every year. iv) Form Ad-hoc committees based on individual competencies to achieve targeted goals.
v) Any other duty or function necessary for the proper running of the Association.
7. SUBSCRIPTIONS & CONTRIBUTIONS
i) Every member shall be liable to pay monthly dues to be fixed by members at a general meeting.
ii) Members at a general meeting shall have power to levy any fixed contribution for purpose of meeting any set goal.
8. OFFICIAL GENERAL MEETINGS
i) There shall be a bi-monthly meeting to be held on the 3rd Saturday of that month.
ii) The Executive or members at a general meeting shall have power to call AN EXTRAORDINARY MEETING by public notification in addition to the bi-monthly meeting.
9. ROLL BOOK
There shall be kept by the Association a Roll Book which will contain the names of all the Class of (LOSA ‘77’) with their current addresses and social and marital status.
10. BANK ACCOUNT
The Association shall operate a Bank account and no monies shall be withdrawn from same without the express approval of ANY TWO of these officers.

11. WELFARE FUND
There shall be established Welfare Fund for purposes of furthering the noble aims set out in ARTICLE 3 of this Constitution.
12. AMENDMENT OF CONSTITUTION
Any repeat or amendment of an addition to the provisions of this constitution shall not be valid unless
i) It has been submitted in writing to members at a general meeting 3 months prior to it being moved.
ii) It is approved by a 2/3rd majority of a quorum of members present and voting at a general meeting.
13. INTERPRETATION
In this constitution unless the context so otherwise requires:
a) “ASSOCIATION” means 1977 LABONE OLD STUDENTS ASSOCIATION OR LOSA ‘77’.
b) “QUORUM” means a meeting of not less than 10 members of the Association.
c) EXTRAORDINARY MEETING means any other meeting other than a monthly or end of year meeting.
